What is a Rite of Passage?
A Rite of Passage is a non denominational ceremony or event that marks and important stage in a person's life. Traditionally Rites of Passage ceremonies marked the turning points in life, such as those for a birth, the transition from child to adult, marriage rites, death rites.
We often need help in dealing with other life changing events. We offer rites for divorce, separation, empty nest syndrome, menopause, retirement, and any major life changing event, even moving out of home, away to college or moving to another city. These rites help us to accept the letting go processes and embrace our new situations.
Rites of passage ceremonies help us to move ahead, to let go of preexisting roles. They assist us in moving gently and smoothly, with wisdom and trust, through the natural cycles of life that everyone must experience. Rites of Passage Ceremonies help us to embrace life, enabling us to move into a new role with acceptance and gratitude, knowing that we are supported.
One of our favorite Rites is for Young Ladies on their First Moon. Providing teachings about and honoring of their monthly cycle is a huge help in shifting any shameful or embarrassing feelings. This Rite also helps them to honor and release their girlhood and embrace becoming a woman. Welcoming young ladies into womanhood is very empowering and helpful in building self respect and high self esteem.
Entering Menopause is another important shift for women. This phase of life can be very challenging time, many women feel lost and need assistance in embracing becoming an Elder and releasing the time of child bearing.
